SEE MARS IN IMAX!!! "Roving Mars" Opens January 27th at HMNS Imax Theater

Great news!

The Houston Museum of Natural Science will begin showing the astounding Frank Marshall- George Butler IMAX film of the adventures of the Mars Exploration Rovers beginning this Saturday January 27th!

The film is named Roving Mars, and it's from Disney. Frank Marshall's film credits include Raiders of the Lost Ark, Roger Rabbit, Seabiscuit and The Sixth Sense. Butler is famous for Pumping Iron and Shackleton.

The two world-famous NASA Mars Rovers, "Spirit" and "Opportunity", are still exploring the Red Planet.

Spirit celebrated its first "Martian Year" on the planet's surface November 21st 2005, and Opportunity's first Martian Year celebration soon followed on December 13th.

The Mars Exploration Rover Mission is one of the greatest scientific explorations in human history.

Startling images sent back to earth by "Opportunity" from a location on the planet's surface named Meridiani Planum have shown that Mars once had water on it's surface and could have been inhabited by primitive life forms.

Showtimes aren't listed yet at the HMNS website, so try the HMNS phone line at 713-639-4629. Ticket prices are $7 for adults, $5 for children, students and seniors, and $4 for groups. The Museum is located in Hermann Park just across the street from the Miller Outdoor Theater.

We'll be attending the first Saturday showing of the film and will post a complete review.
